MESSAGE

I am quite pleased to learn that Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has planned to launch its new website 'www.ccl.gov.in' on 2 March 2009. I have been told that the website as well as CCL’s own mail messaging system have been on trial for the last couple of months on the workstations and are now ready for regular use. It is also heartening to know that the website is soon going to be hosted on CCL’s servers powered by Linux operating system.

I congratulate the management of CCL as well as the officers of the Systems Department for taking a leap forward in technology by deciding to use Linux operating system, which is increasingly being used across the IT world for the software’s open source architecture and relatively higher security. Moreover, the decision of CCL to have its own mail messaging system, which CIL has already started, is also a step in the right direction. The electronic mails will not only increase efficiency by way of faster communication but also will give a distinct identity to each executive of CCL through his e-mail id.

I wish CCL grand success in its new initiatives.
